In university he studied law, during which time he interned at the Multi County Public Defenders office in Atlanta, Georgia, where he assisted clients on death row. Following graduation he continued his studies by pursuing a LL.M in International Sports Law.
His professional journey has taken him across continents and industries, from volunteering at a homeless shelter in New Jersey to teaching English in Romania. His global experiences include roles in accounts management in London and Sydney to working in private banking in Sydney and New York.

After choosing to specialise in mental health law he has represented patients, on civil and criminal sections, both in hospital and in the community, with professionalism and integrity.
Having gained more than a decade of experience in mental health law, and going on to become a consultant in 2019, he has

Notably, Jamie is one of a select few solicitors to have represented patients in Tribunals at all three high security hospitals in England.
Between 2013 and 2024 Jamie worked as a Consultant Solicitor, offering invaluable advocacy services to a wide range of firms across the country including National and Regional practices. Since 2019 Jamie has sat as an Associate Hospital Manager reviewing applications to renew detention, presiding over appeals and drafting decisions.
Beyond his legal practice, Jamie has been a Visiting Lecturer at The University of Law since 2021 where he teaches and assesses across a range of courses including on professional skills courses for those hoping to become solicitors or barristers. While at University and then at Bar school Sarah worked as a paralegal from 2007 until 2013. She also volunteered at Dorset Victim Support and on the Housing Court Desk at Portsmouth and Southampton County Court. Sarah was called to the Bar in 2012, but having enjoyed seeing client's through a difficult progress from start to finish decided to qualify as a Solicitor.
In 2012 Sarah earned Law Society Accreditation to represent patients in Mental Health Tribunals. In 2014 she made the move to being a Consultant Solicitor and working at leading National and Regional firms in their Mental Health Departments.
Between 2019 and 2021 Sarah was able to use all her skills during her tenure on the Mental Health Lawyers Association (MHLA) committee to help them navigate through the Covid-19 pandemic.
Sarah now represented clients in Tribunals, at Hospital Managers hearings and assists in CPA's and Professionals Meetings. Sarah works in a collaborative way with both clients and, if appropriate, medical professionals to try and secure good results for her clients.
Her greatest strength is client care as she is passionate and dedicated to her clients. She does so in an empathetic manner appreciating that detention under the Mental Health Act is often overwhelming and daunting.
Sarah genuinely cares and that is why she is a founding Partner at AJS Law LLP; to ensure quality is upheld and clients are at the centre of all we do.
